A factor you might want to consider when you choose kitchen cabinets is TOXICITY. Especially if you have children, I think you should make sure any cabinets or products you buy for a kitchen remodel meet the highest standards insofar as toxic glues or adhesives.
This is true for flooring and can be for tile adhesive. It is true for both fiberboard and plywood cabinets. One reason to buy Made in the US cabinetry is that the standards can be higher. I suggest CARB 2 Compliant for any cabinets. This is a measure of formaldehyde in the adhesive used in the fiberboard or plywood. It is odorless, but you can often sense its presence if you go into a room or store with new cabinets that are NOT Carb 2 compliant.
Formaldehyde is a carcinogen and can also cause headaches, eye and sinus irritation and other symptoms. The Carb 2 standard caps the amount of formaldehyde that can be used. Any product that meets this standard should be labeled CARB 2.
We are happy to say that the frameless cabinet line we offer IS made in the US and IS Carb 2 Compliant.
